Nikola Bašić

During a recent trip to Croatia I came across these two pieces, which were created by Nikola Basic. The first piece is the Sea Organ, pipes that play different notes depending on the seas movement. The second piece, Greeting to the Sun, a large solar panel that reflects the suns movements during night time, in a fantastic light display (northern light esk).

Possibly does not sound the best, but i like the idea of using the environments resources to create art.

Gunilla Bandolin

Gunilla Bandolin was a tutor I had briefly at Konstfack in Stockholm, a very interesting lady. I went to see a piece she had created in Stockholm, a floating sculpture/interactive wooden piece. It is beautifully made and constructed, and my favourite part is that you can see it in Google maps aerial view!

Fotografiska

About a month ago i visited Fotografiska and there were two exhibitions that really interested me, the first exhibition was by Edward Burtynsky who's TED talk i posted a few months ago. The theme of his work is nature being transformed by industry. His exhibition consisted of large prints of ariel views of industrial landscapes that had obtained a strange beauty from their destruction.

The other exhibition was by a lady Eleanor Coppola titled Circle of Memory. The exhibition is a reconstruction of a stone circle in ireland, made from large prints of the stone and straw bales. She had created a sense of place and an environment that reflected the original stone circle site.
